This date is highly symbolic, as it corresponds to the anniversary of the "Act" signed by Ogoula Iquaqua Benoît before the French Resident on July 1, 1932.
1932-2019, eighty-seven years (87) later, we wanted to revive the "Act of July 1, 1932" during the vernissage of his book "Owanga ou l'Appel de l'Aurore".

In Port-Gentil, the line-up of speakers from Libreville included a high-profile female presence: Mme Bignoumba (née Ilogué Jacqueline), President of the Union des pétroliers gabonais.
In front of an enthusiastic audience, enhanced by the presence of the Oroungou chieftaincy and local notables, the speakers introduced Port-Gentillais to a surprisingly forgotten figure in Gabon's national history. And yet he deserves better.

Recognition from his hometown

In posthumous recognition of his commitment and action, Port-Gentil has not forgotten him, and decided on November 29, 2004 to name one of its thoroughfares “Rue Benoît OGOULA IQUAQUA”.
