The ‘Fraternité’ dance hall in the Grand Village district was a party venue, but also a place for political discussion, where people talked about the future of Gabon. It was there, on 3 June 1951 in Port-Gentil, that OIB organised a political meeting for his friend Léon M'Ba. It was also here that meetings of the section of the Bloc Démocratique Gabonais (BDG, 1957) were held, at the invitation of its regional secretary (OIB).

It was in this dance hall that Léon M'Ba organised a public conference in Port-Gentil on 3 June 1951, in front of around a hundred Africans (photo Archives familiales, Léon M'Ba's candidacy in the legislative elections of 17/06/1951).
