THE RAMPARTS AND SENTINELS OF THE PEOPLE

The aim of this section is to highlight all the Oroungou petitioners from 1957-1958. They ranged in age from 22 to 100. These Oroungou had the courage to band together and organize, risking their lives to defend the interests of their community without violence. They had already alerted the French colonial administrative authorities by letter. They deserve to be remembered.
But who were they, these Oroungou who had dared to defy the colonial order? And above all, to claim the right to enjoy the oil manna that came from the land of their ancestors. So, periodically, we'll be offering an evolving portrait, incorporating new, relevant and sourced elements? We therefore invite the descendants of these resistance fighters to enrich it with their testimonies or contributions.
